If you haven’t figured it out by now, we are loved by a pretty awesome God. Our Heavenly Father wants to bless us in every possible way imaginable. I think about my own son. I would give him the world and then some if he needed it. Of course, my resources are very limited, but God’s are not. In the book of John, Jesus had the people to sit down as He gave a powerful demonstration of the Fathers love towards those in need. He took of the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed it to all those who were seated. They ate as much as they wanted. Afterwards, they were told to waste nothing and to pick up all the remaining pieces of bread. There were twelve baskets full left over. The point is that it was more than enough. When you see God show out in a similar way today, it’s well worth talking about and giving Him all the praise and glory for it.
Recently, we were contacted by a member of the Troop 8 Boy Scouts by the name of William Meck. He was creating an Eagle project entitled CitySocks. His goal was to raise 1000 pairs of socks for the homeless in downtown Jackson. That is a huge goal!!! He began to get the word out and God gave him a platform for doing so. The socks began to come in. Not just a trickle either, but in droves. As you can see in the pictures below, his entire living room became flooded with socks. The goal was 1000, but the final count was 2012. As God so often does, it was more than enough. Now that my friends are the hands of God at work. We thank you, William, for your passion and love for the needy in our city. Most importantly, we thank you for being the vessel God used to demonstrate His love for the needy. Keep going down that path and you will never go wrong.
